Interventional glove boxes, at the heart of radioprotection
To protect workers and secure their operations, IDEALEX® designs and manufactures interventional glove boxes.
What is an interventional glove box?
An autonomous and mobile interventional glove box is a sealed containment chamber used in nuclear facilities, research laboratories, and other environments where handling radioactive materials is required, such as maintenance, decommissioning, expert analysis, and tasks closely aligned with specific needs.
Composition
The IDEALEX® interventional glove box is designed with a main sealed compartment made of plastic (PMMA, PVC, POLYCARBONATE), effectively containing contamination and ionizing radiation. It is equipped with gloves and openings for the secure handling of objects, ensuring operator protection from radioactive substances.
Each glove box is custom-made, featuring a steel frame on wheels, height adjustment, autonomous depression ventilation with filtration, a set of glove rings, gloves, and LED lighting. With IDEALEX®, you benefit from expertise based on mastered techniques.
What are these interventional glove boxes used for?
In radioprotection, glove boxes play a central role, ensuring operator protection with a containment chamber and gloves for handling without contamination risks. They also contribute to environmental protection by completely isolating contaminated substances. The glove boxes prevent the dispersion of these substances into the work environment, thereby preventing contamination of air, surfaces, and external personnel. IDEALEX® glove boxes can also be equipped with an internal atmosphere control system to maintain a depression as required for the handling process.
Interventional glove box, autonomous and mobile
IDEALEX® glove boxes allow for safe work to optimize manipulations involving contamination risks and radiological hazards near nuclear facilities.
Components of the glove box
IDEALEX® innovates and develops tools and components for the secure transfer of contaminated and/or irradiated objects into glove boxes and shielded cells.
Intervention tongs for glove box / shielded cell
Lead personal protective equipment protects the operator from radiation exposure.
Ejectable ring STIC® system
To safely change gloves in the glove box, the STIC® system incorporates its own mechanical immobilization system for the interchangeable element, secured by the locking crown and safe ejection barrel.
